Kiwis declare 1st innings at 553-7 against BD
HAMILTON: Bangladesh are 87 for one in reply to New Zealand's first innings of 553 for seven declared, at stumps on the second day of the one off Test in Hamilton.

The highlight of the Black Caps innings was a record sixth wicket stand of 339 between Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum.

Guptill made 189, his maiden Test century and McCullum 185, his highest Test score, as the pair made the highest sixth wicket stand for New Zealand in Test matches.

It surpassed the previous reccord of 246- run partnership between Jeff Crowe and Sir Richard Hadlee against Sri Lanka in 1987.

Fast bowler Rubel Hossain was the most successful of the Bangldesh bowlers taking five wickets.

Skipper Daniel Vettori has taken the only Bangladesh wicket to fall, that of opener Imrul Kayes for 28 while Tamim Iqbal is unbeaten on 56.

Bangladesh need further 267 runs to avoid a follow-on.
