Rizwan, Kashif clinch Maldives title

KARACHI: Pakistani pair of Rizwan Azam and Kashif Sulehri clinched men’s doubles title in Maldives Challenge International Badminton Tournament after the duo overpowered Karunaratne Dinuka and Karunaratne Niluka of Sri Lanka in the final in Maldives.

Rizwan Azam and Kashif Sulehri lost the first set to the Sri Lankan combination by 17-21 score.

However, they made a strong comeback in the fight for the title, winning the next two sets by 21-14, 21-14 score.

Senior vice president PBF Syed Naqi Mohsin said that winning a title in a championship in which world class players participated is a big achievement for Pakistani players.

He added that the achievements of other Pakistani players Wajid Ali and Temur Arab was also worthy of praise.
