British tabloid weekly releases video of Yasir Hameed
LONDON: British weekly tabloid newspaper has issued video of Pakistan Test player Yasir Hameed, which exposed many shocking facts in connection with corruption in Pakistan cricket team, Geo News reported.

The video footage, apparently recorded secretly on a hidden camera, showed that Yasir Hameed was gossiping with a reporter of newspaper, Mazhar Mehmood, in a friendly atmosphere.

Yasir Hameed was shot with camera claiming that most agents of players are bookies in reality.

He was further shown claiming that he had been too offered huge amount of money for match-fixing including offer for a Ferrari Car and 1500,000 pounds but he refused proposals every time.

“Many players are involved in fixing matches”, said Yasir on camera, adding that those players who did illegal activities are paying for their misdeeds.”

“Allah has penalized guilty players. Sydney Test earned corrupt players up to 1.8 million pounds for fixing match”, Yasir claimed.

No replacement to be called for Umar Gul
LONDON: The Pakistan team management here has decided that no replacement bowler will be called for the injured Umar Gul, who suffered a hamstring injury during the second Test against England at Birmingham.

“We have two back up pace bowlers, Tanveer Ahmed and Wahab Riaz in the touring squad and either one of them can replace Gul for the remaining Tests," team manager Yawar Saeed said.

Both Tanveer and Wahab are with the team since the start of the tour. The Pakistan touring squad presently includes 17 players.

Yawar Saeed said that the tour selectors would decide who would play but for now they are not asking for a replacement as Gul is also due to have another scan on August 18. It would be known after the scan whether Gul can recover in time for the two Twenty20 and five one-day internationals against England next month.

Umar Gul has been advised rest for up to three weeks but the correct position Would be known next week on how much more time his recovery would take," he added.

Gul has ruptured a muscle in his thigh while bowling in England's first innings, although he batted freely, albeit with a runner, during Pakistan's second innings.

Gul had also missed the ICC World Twenty20 and Asia Cup earlier this year due to injury.

Meanwhile, chief selector Mohsin Khan and limited-overs captain Shahid Afridi are due to fly to England during the third Test to finalise the limited-overs squad.

Salman praises his young side for beating Australia
LEEDS: Pakistan captain Salman Butt praised his young side and their supporters after leading the team to a first Test victory over Australia in 15 years in his first game in charge.

Pakistan just about held their nerve to complete a three-wicket win on the fourth day of the second Test at Headingley here on Saturday as they finished on 180 for seven.

And when tailender Umar Gul hit the winning run at 11.35am local time (1035GMT) on the fourth day, it meant Pakistan had ended a record run of 13 straight Test defeats by Australia stretching back to 1995.

Pakistan's victory also saw them square the series at 1-1 after a 150-run loss in last week's first Test at Lord's which led to their former captain Shahid Afridi's retirement from five-day cricket.

A raw side, without senior batsmen Mohammad Yousuf and Younus Khan - both left at home after the fall-out from bans imposed following Pakistan's 3-0 Test series loss in Australia last year - resumed on 140 for three.

They lost four wickets for 40 runs on Saturday before Gul hit Mitchell Johnson for the decisive single.

Pakistan had blown a seemingly gilt-edged chance against Australia in Sydney in January when, chasing 176, they were bowled out for 139 in a 36-run defeat.

"Knowing the history, it was a bit nerve-wracking," opening batsman Butt told reporters afterwards.

"Thank God it went positively and we won."

This series was played in England because no major international cricket has taken place in Pakistan since an armed attack on Sri Lanka's team bus in Lahore in March last year.

"Beating the world's best is an achievement which I owe to this young team," Butt said. "We owe it also definitely to the people back in Pakistan.

"We would have loved to have won this match in front of our home crowd but unfortunately that is not possible at the moment. But still we need to tell these people that we still remember them and we will be back soon hopefully.

"It means a lot. It's a new beginning for Pakistan cricket and the young side," the left-hander added."
