Karachi Champions T20 League begins today KARACHI: The Karachi Champions League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament is beginning here today when city nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal will inaugurate the Rs17.7 million event. In the opening match of the 16-team tournament which will conclude on February 24, Korangi Alfateh will clash with Nazimabad Gymkhana at 8.00 pm today. The match will be played floodlights. A huge amount of Rs 20 million will be spent on staging the tournament out of which cash prizes of Rs17.7 million will be distributed. The team winning the title will walk away with Rs10 million — easily the biggest-ever prize in the history of club cricket in Pakistan. The runners-up will get Rs 5 million, the semi-finalists Rs 500,000 each and the quarter-finalists Rs 250,000 apiece. |
